Lee Richardson Zoo

The Lee Richardson Zoo is often referred to as an oasis on the plains of Kansas.  Home to hundreds of Kansas native and exotic animals, the Lee Richardson Zoo features over fifty beautifully landscaped acres inGarden City, spacious animal exhibits, walking paths, a playground, picnic areas, and shady avenues.  Experience elephants, giraffes, lions, bears, birds, primates and many more species from around the world, up close.

Finney County Historical Museum

The Finney County Museum features permanent and revolving exhibits, community programs, educational tours, and extensive research facilities. Our museum offers a rewarding and enjoyable experience for all ages. A visit provides a look into the spirit, both past and present, of Southwest Kansas.

The Big Pool

Once the largest Handdug Free Swimming Pool, The Municipal Pool has been expanded to include Slides, Diving Boards, a Kiddie Area, and lots of activites for the hottest summer months.

Finney County Fair Grounds & Expo Center

Including a Rodeo Arena, the recently remodeled Expo building, a large parking lot, and lots of outbuildings, The Fairgrounds are home to many events in Garden City.


Beef Empire Days

Started in 1968 to celebrate Garden City's largest industry, Beef Empire Days is centered around the PRCA rodeo, and the Beef Empire days Parade.

Finney County Fair

Hosted at the Fairgrounds annually in July & August, the Finney County Fair has a lot to offer everyone.  With a Carnival, Monster Trucks, a Demolition Derby, 4H Competitions, and musical preformances, it's got entertainment for the whole family.

Fall Fest & Art in the Park

A display of arts and crafts in downtown brings many to the area.  Held in Late September, Fall Fest coincides with the Knight of Columbus Octoberfest celebration.

Boo! at the Zoo

Held at Lee Richardson Zoo, 'Boo!' brings together dozens of organizations to provide a fun and safe Halloween event for the whole community.  An evening walk through the zoo with loads of treatstops and 'scary' fun for everyone.
